Tournament Rules

RULES OF PLAY FOR ALL DIVISIONS

RAIN OR SHINE

1.  IT IS ILLEGAL TO CONSUME OR POSSESS ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON PARK PROPERTY. ANY PLAYER, OR TEAM FOUND CONSUMING AND / POSSESSING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES , WILL BE EJECTED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TOURNAMENT AND THEY WILL FOREIT ALL RIGHTS TO THEIR TOURNAMENT FEES AND OR THEIR PRIZES.  STRICTLY ENFORCED.  PLEASE GET YOUR REFRESHMENTS AT THE TOURNAMENT HEADQUARTERS

2Umpire’s decisions are final!

3.    “Round Robin" format. Guaranteed four (4) games.

4.       You must be able to field team (10) players; with the proper allotment  of Males and Females; OR MORE FEMALES at all times. (Co-ed rule only ) Less than 10  players during a game shall be declared a forfeit.

5.  All games (7) innings or a time limit of 1 Hour and 10 minutes. 10 minutes grace allowed from official start time.   Tied games International tie breaker rule goes into effect after 7 innings until winner is declared. No time limit for finals. 

 6. All teams participating in tournament must have their own set of bases including Safebase. Home team decided by flip of a coin, and must supply bases and pegs, or forfeit home game.  Bases are to be placed (65) feet apart.

7.   NSA 2007 rules apply, including:

(A) No metal spikes, no hard plastic spikes.

(B) "ROSTER PROTEST ONLY" ( within 30 minutes of game) in writing giving the name of person or persons in question with the umpires signature on the game  sheet stating the game played under protest.   Protest must  be  accompanied by $150.00, CASH refundable if protest upheld.

(C) No sliding or tagging at home.  Home plate is a force out once runner crosses commitment line. NOTE: No Tagging between commitment line and home plate. (All Divisions. NOTE: this rule of a commitment line does not apply in EASTERN CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS))

(D) Four (4) courtesy runners per game. (Male/Male, Female/Female).

(E) A  mat is used for the calling of strikes and balls.  If a legally pitched ball hits the mat and or home plate it is a strike.

NOTE: MAT WILL NOT BE USED IN EASTERN CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

8.   Players may play in only one (1) Mens, one (1) Ladies, and one (1) Co-Ed team for the duration of the tournament.

9.  MERCY RULE: Twelve  (12) runs or more anytime after five (5) innings (4 1/2 if home team is winning). Does not apply in final games.  (Mercy or defaulted game scored 7-0  for winning team.)

10.  Home team must bat in the bottom of the 7th unless up by more than 7 runs.  Refusal by visiting team results in 7-0 score.

11.  Third (3rd) strike foul, batter is out.

12. An anticipation step will be allowed after a  pitched ball has passed  home plate or is hit. If the runner  leaves  the base early the runner is out and NO PITCH is declared.

13. Minimum uniform requested is "matching tops" in all divisions. (Note; matching tops are a requirement in NSA EASTERN CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS) 

14. Batter-Baserunner-Walk  If a male is walked, intentionally or otherwise, he will be awarded first and second bases and the next batter, the female has the option of walking to 1st or going to bat. (Co-ed rule only ) In the Men’s division a walk is awarded as one base.

15. Final Team Standings from Round Robin play are based on team records ( win / loss ), (plus / minus), if two tie, head to head record  will decide tie breaker.                   

16.  Final team results will be based on total weekend results.

17.  HIV Rule applies.

18.  12” Wilson DeMarini ball will be used in Men’s Divisions . 12” and 11” Wilson DeMarini ball will be used in Co-ed Divisions.   

19. Extra Players:  Teams may use unlimited “EXTRA PLAYER(s)”.  The total number of regular players (10) and extra players may not  exceed  the number of players on the team’s legal roster.  If a player is unable to continue in the game and no legal substitute is available when he/she is due up to bat,  he/she  is declared out and play continues with the next batter in the batting order.

20. Home run rule as per N.S.A. 2007 Handbook.

 HOME RUN LIMITS:(any untouched ball which travels over the fence, over fair ground)    

East Point Home Run Rule

Men’s Divisions Are allowed 3 HOME RUNS per Game all others are an Out.

Co-ed Divisions Are allowed 2 HOME RUNS per Game all others are an Out.

21. Base paths will be 65 feet in all divisions. (May differ in EASTERN CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS)
